I really like this knife and QSP seems to have a pretty good bang for your buck. My problem is that is is Chinese. And while I know that buying from China is not 100% avoidable but I do my best to avoid their products. I am open to made outside of the USA, I just preferred not to send China my money if at all possible.

Any substitutions you guys can think of?

Not really at that price. Gerber has some value USA made folders, but they are not going to be quite as nice as something from QSP for the same price.

Kershaw also has some USA made folders in its lineup. Look up the Dividend, or the Link.

Budget?

There is a new Buck 110 in S30V for $110. There are less expensive offerings of the 110 too.

If Taiwan is acceptable, Cold steel have some offerings in a big blade.
Code 4, Ultimate Hunter, Lawman, Recon 1,

Knifejoy has a 20cv Spyderco Endura. Great knife. I own one myself. From Japan.
Taiwan is NOT Chinese. although China is after her right after Hong Kong.
Spydercos knives...half of their finest....are made in Spyderco factory in Taiwan.

I understand that. I just asked a question. I don't know how the OP feels about Taiwan which is why I phrased the question like I did.

Quite a few offerings from Italy too. Lionsteel, Viper, MKM, and Fox. But those will run $150+ which is why the price range is so important.

Not trying to be a jerk here but I believe Op is specifically looking for knives similar to the QSP Locust, not knives in general that aren't made in China. The 110 is about as different in style from the Locust as two knives can be.

OP, what about the Locust appeals to you? These are smaller options, but both US made and have similar blade profiles, the Kershaw Leek, and Benchmade 940

Good point. The QSP is a 3.8" blade. I was recommending non-China made blades that are close to 4". Not necessarily in the QSP style.

To J Jersey Drew . Are you looking for something exactly like the QSP Locust but not made in China? As in, close to 4" blade with similar style handle and blade shape?

The profile of the blade. Looks like a bird to me.

i have the 940. And the leek seems nice but kind plain jane to me

and just an FYI the length isn’t all that important to me. For some reason I just like the blade shape

Kershaw Launch 13 offers a pretty similar blade shape. Not sure if autos are an issue for you though

Nobody feels any way about Taiwan, homie. They don't have the same issues as China. I guess while, you know, I could also tell someone who showed a disdain for Chinese knives, "Oh hey, if Finland is acceptable, then maybe..." Their problem is, clearly, with the politics of China. Not foreign knives, not Asian knives. So, if you would have just as easily said, "If France is acceptable, then...", your coment makes sense. But I feel you would not have said that had you been rec'ing a Euro knife. Taiwan doesn't have any type of similar polices. His issue wasn't with foreign knives, but with Chinese knives, as he stated.

I am sorrry if this seems antagonistic in any way, do not mean in that way. I was just trying to clear up/understand why Taiwan would be spoken of in the same breath. Probably you just put that part as an afterthought.

auto would be a problem. it isn't all that big a deal i was just curious if anyone else had a similar blade shape.

Check out some straight-bladed knives like the Yojimbo 2 or Yojumbo or some of the Spyderco wharncliffe versions of Endura, Delia, Dragonfly, too, that may get ya.
