Hi gang, this is simply a little reminder for a heads up and stay aware if you are interested in or wanting to buy a QSP Penguin, any version of the knife with a clip that only has a single screw holding it into the scale. I bought one here on BladeForums from a cool guy. It was an exclusive, jigged titanium in M390. Nice little knife, but no matter how tight, with threadlocker, I make the screw, the clip still has about 1/4" movement side to side. The clip is fairly tight, so it is not flopping around, and might not bother some people. But with a little pressure, I can easily slide the clip side to side just a bit. I don't know what you, but this bothers me. Some of their less expensive knives have two screws in the clip. The titanium versions seem to have one screw, which is not a good design in my opinion. I contacted the Chinese manufacturer and basically he apologized, said "this is normal", and said "in their next production they would use two screws in the clip." Rather unsatisfactory response in my opinion. So just a heads up.

To clarify, only the Ti versions (upgraded clips) have this issue. Looks like all other versions are 2 screws.

I wouldn't use the R word though, I've seen bigger blunders from knife designs :)

Hope this helps!

You are absolutely correct! I thought the stupid clip was just not seated because of the uneven geography of the jigged Ti. However, when I took the screw out and the clip off there is indeed a milled recess under the clip. Then I really cranked down the screw until it could not be tightened any further. The clip was more stable, but again, I can still move it from side to side. Very poor design!

I have a Ti version. Absolutely no play in the clip. Makes me wonder if yours is a quality control issue, poor milling at contact. I would contact warranty at Service_USA@qspknife.com and offer to send pics or vids, or if needed ship them the knife. I would ask them to replace the clip, and if that did not work, the whole knife.

You could try permanent thread locker. It's a thing. Slather it on the clip and the recess for the clip and let it cure completely. The downside is that you will never get it apart again.

Plus some epoxy on the clip itself !

Stylish but poor design functionally , IMO .

I wasn't aware of this until now. I can intentionally move the clip on my fat carbon/titanium penguin. However, under normal use it doesn't move.
