This thread is for Questions That Don't Deserve Their Own Thead. Short and simple questions which you suspect have short and simple answers.

  1. What is the difference between the Benchmade 162 and the 162-1 (other than Kydex sheath vs Leather Sheath)?
  2. Is the Kydex sheath of the 162-1 easily reversible for left-hand carry?

Thanks in advance.

The 162-1 has a slightly different blade finish with sand colored handles and a kydex sheath.
The 162-1 kydex sheath is not reversible for left-hand carry.

Hey Jimmy,

I don't currently have a 162-1 kydex sheath in my possession, but if memory serves me, you can easily remove the bolts and move the loop and spacer to the "front" side of the sheath, thereby reversing the carry orientation. Does that make sense?

Best,
Matthew

Thank you for your responses. I was thinking about doing what m.and is saying. I understand that might void the warranty, though.

Otherwise I might try to make my own sheath as a hobby project. But I'm not very good at it and I have too many knives that need a left-handed sheath already! :)

Yeah, now that I look a little closer you can remove the loop and reverse the sheath for LH carry. It's the leather one that can't be reversed. Thanks Matthew.

Awesome! Thanks for making a sheath that can be useful for lefties as well!
