Ok i have been fiddling with o1 tool steel and makeing knifes with files all buy hand. I have learned alot about files . one thing is they kinda slow going so i bought a 2x72 grizzly grinder. yes i know it not a kmg but for me it a start and will im sure speed up my stock removal. who is a good maker of belts in this size? i figure on making no more then 4-5 hunting type knifes per month and maybe less. i am using o1 and 5160 so far and once i get my grind skills a little better will try some other stuff. figuring on 80 grit, 120, 220 , 400 a nd 600 sound right. also those ceramic belts that much better? thanks much

Any belt around $5 is good. The rest is your preference. Try different belts and you'll see what you like and what you don't.

ok so keep it at 5 dollars a belt and got these belts , they are #m belts super ceramic in 80 grit, and the rest trizact structured abrasives they were all at about 5 bucks a pop. 1 more questions while im here . approx how long these belts last? ill be doing my rough grind outline on a hard wheel grinder. so will have the finish and bevel work for the belts.thanks again

Ceramic will last you many blades. Trazact also will last multiple blades.
Trizact will need conditioning one in a while - grind thin flat piece of steel against belt so it'll expose new layer of abrasive.

Get Cork belt in 400 and 600 and green compund. REad SR forums on how it works. I thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread!
