What does your EDC entail? There are different knives for different things... For under $100 you'll probably find something good from Benchmade or Spyderco.

Find a used Spyderco Gayle Bradley, which can go for about ninety dollars. It's about an ideal knife for me, at least. I can reasonably easily take mine to an edge that will effortlessly cut a hanging hair, and it holds a shaving edge for a lot of use. If you're concerned about the carbon steel, don't be. I've even taken my GB saltwater fishing and have gutted quite a few fish with it. I also use it out in the woods all the time, as my EDC, and as my kitchen knife. Performs wonderfully. Just a few minutes of extra maintenance per week and you won't have problems.

It's highly recommended on my part based on my many hours of use of the knife.

I EDC an ESEE-3 and I love it. The only knives that sometimes take its place are some customs. Bullet proof warranty from some great people.

The Spyderco Dragonfly with green G-10 handles is a solid little knife with great steel for under $80 bucks.
