After a my recent purchases, I have shifted my focus to an EDC folder.

Thing is, I dont really know of many quality manufacturers.

Right now my gaze lay upon the Fallkniven PXL IM (ivory micarta handle scales), but I want to shop around before I buy anything. (in a month or so)

Can anyone suggest some high end folders to check out?

Again, price is not really an object.

Thanks

Funny, I was just looking at those.
Well I think it is quite a fine knife. I carry mine all the time.

Price is not an object? Man, that's so cool. I'd look at some of the S30V frame lock ZT's, or Zero Tolerance. Or a CRK sebenza with wood inlay, or lazer graphic. Tell us what you get.

rick hinderer, greg lightfoot, sebenza....

Support a knifemaker, buy a custom! There are some great makers here that offer fantastic knives at prices that will amaze you (in a good way!). I've bought custom folders that are every bit as good as the big name companies at lower prices. Your options as to design, blade steel and handle material increase too.

Take a look here and here to get some ideas.

Good luck with your search!

+1 That way, you can basically have your "own" knife.

Sabenzas are nice, but I just cant justify EDCing such an expensive knife when you can get something with the exact same blade steel for much cheaper. Look at Spyderco, Benchmade, and Kershaw.

If its ZDP you're after, the titanium handled Mini Cyclone can be found on the auction site. Ti slabs, frame lock, and ZDP-189 steel, plus assisted opening (you can turn it off if you wish). The seller is offering them at a but it now of $ 275, but I believe a best offer of $ 200 would secure one.

I've had one in my pocket almost daily for two years now. It is a tremendous knife for the money.

Just what exactly do you mean when you say "price is not an object"? High end productrion folders can run between $100-200 even without fancy handle materials like mother-of-pearl or semi-precious stone. Fairly simple custom folders can easly cost $300-400 from there the sky is the limit when you start including special decorative work or exotic materials.

If you want a high end production folder, I would check out Spyderco, Benchmade and perhaps Kershaw. They all produce some very nice "using" knives. High quality and many of their more expesive knives are available in some of the currently trendy "super-steels" like CPM-S90V or ZDP189.

Yuna knives new eq model is very nice and reasonably priced for a custom

If price is not really a problem, you should check our Rockstead, incredible japanese precision. Or the custom knives by Jens Anso. Or one of several other custom makers.

Rick Hinderer, Greg Lightfoot, Sebenza....
