Okay. I usually go pretty light but let's see if I can recomend something for the size you're looking at. It'll at least give you a start.
Tweezers. I carry Uncle Bill's on my keychain and would recomend it. You probably have the space to have full on tweezers though. Then buy the best you can find at the grocery store/pharmacy.
Tweezerman-great quality, reasonably affordable.
Scissors. I would go with full on medical shears.
QUALITY scissors that medics carry are the way to go-http://www.amazon.com/Prestige-Medical-Fluoride-Scissor-Black/dp/B002WJHE7E/ref=pd_sbs_ac_1
Bandaids. Nexcare makes the only bandaids worth a darn. The only bandaids that I actually have a hard time getting off.
Quick clot gauze availabe at rei. I'd take 2 or 3 if you hunt, shoot, 4x4 etc
Duct tape if you don't have it already. Good for keeping deep cuts together til you can have a doc irrigate and suture it.
Neosporin (sp?). They have small travel tubes
I recommend the Neosporin + Pain Relief Ointment-it does the trick, every time
Burn ointment
Alcohol swabs. As many that will fit. These are also good for hygeine
add iodine swabs to the list, it is a much better antiseptic.
specifically Vicodin or Percodan if you can get your doctor to sign off on it, unless alergic and be aware of the potential for abuse, not only self, but also family members...regardless, very useful for a Saturday night injury not requiring an emergency room visit.
Immodium. Take at least one course which is 4 pills.
I'm sure someone will chime in with something I've missed. In the end a good first aid kit is like survival gear, no 2 people are going to have the same kits.
Crazy glue-indispensable for closing wounds that don't warrant quikclot, but won't close with a bandaid
Compazine suppositories-when you cannot stop vomiting
Ace bandages are very useful....at least one.
Heat packs take up very little room and are very useful as well.
