So as the title suggests I'm after a quality folder & am open to suggestions.

The front runners are:
- TBS Boar
- Fallkniven PXLmm

I'm also drooling over the Kirby Lambert MGT (I do like a Tanto) but they seem pretty rare - plus are they a 'show' knife rather than a 'go' knife.

Thanks all

Judging from your frontrunners I'd advise taking a look at some Enzo folders. The Birk and Borka are quite nice and seem like they might be up your alley.

I have a PXLmm and they're great knives!
I carry mine when I want a "dressier" knife.

If your price range stretches up to a Lambert MGT, check out a Hinderer XM-18 3.5" they have several new blade styles, or an Olamic Wayfarer if you want a 4" blade.

Good luck!

It really depends what you're using your knife for. Ergonomics and blade design are very important factors to consider. Also, some knives have features that you might not like. A Hinderer might have a detent that's too weak for you or a Sebenza might be too difficult to open, for example. Any knives produced overseas without a dedicated service center in the US will present difficulties in getting warranty work, service & repair done. Having service performed on custom knives is at the mercy of the maker's whim. Keep issues like these in mind when you make your decision.

The wayfarer is an absolute beauty!! But also looks a bit of a pocket-filler!!

What do I want it for? Well I suppose I'm after the Holy Grail.
- I want it to be a good woodsman knife
- general all purpose tool including food prep
- it'll gotta look awesome
- it's gotta go everywhere when I don't carry my fixed blade knives

Cash is an issue but I'd rather pay for something that is the best rather than settle for something else.

You and All of us brother, Good luck. It is a personal journey that will lead down a different path for us all.
Once you do get it though, another knife will catch your eye in a month.

I personally would look into having a custom friction folder made. Easy to clean, lock up is secure as long as your grip is, and you don't smack the back of the blade. And with minimal parts, it is, theoretically, as strong as you can get in a folder.

Take a look at JK Knives, he has 2 models with At least 6 blade shapes to suit your needs, 3-4 grinds, various scale and liner materials. If you dont see anything that is Just right, he will try to make you anything you want.
A Great guy that will make you Your knife, just as you want it.
