So I acquired this knife a while back, and I've been very pleased, overall. It keeps an edge, it has minimal blade play, and I love the unique design (and would like to know more about it). Here it is:
This blade has one con, but it is a big one. If you apply even pressure to the spine of the blade, the leaf spring slides across the tang and slips out of place, allowing the knife to close. I was doing some research to try to find out some method of remedying this, when I happened across this knife:
As you can see, they seem exactly the same. My question is this: what are the chances that my knife came from the same factory as the S&W? I can't even find a website for MTech, which tells me that MTech probably doesn't manufacture anything, at least not directly.
Quite often, store-brand raisin bran comes from the same place as name brand, yeah?
Really, I just want to know because it would be hilarious if a knife designed for Homeland Security has a flaw that could potentially cut off all your fingers. xD
Here's a closeup of the tang with the liner lock engaged, just in case there is a problem there that a knife expert could point out:
Thanks! ~Fake
PS: I've heard of 'whacking the spine', and I want no part of it.
