Does anyone know anything about the quality of Muela knives, I really like the look of some of their tactical/outdoor knives and some of them are fairly reasonably priced. Some, such as the paramilitary are obviously lower quality but others like the stag handled Podenqueros don't seem that bad. Any experience/input you could share is much appreciated.

There have been several discussions recently regarding these. Run a search and I think you'll find some useful information.

I have a Muela Mirage with a serrated spine. I like it a lot. I was goin into Plaza to git a KABAR to beat around. I was pretty dipleased with the KABAR fit n finish, there was space showing the blade-tang juncture above the guard on all of them as well as other issues. The clerk said "try this" and put the Muela in my hand. Much better knife, thicker stock, better fit and finish, more comfortable handle, etc...

I jam it into things ..and pry.. and hammer.. and twist.. and gouge with it, its got scratches all over it but it is still 100% fuctional.

I also have a Aitor Jungle King 1 (also a spainish factory blade) and it is a pretty sturdy hollowhandle second only to the Chris Reeve 1-peice-ers and custom offerings.

Thanks for the info skinwalker, I've had an Aitor JK II which I was quite displeased with it came very dull, and just felt cheap, especially for the amount I paid for it. That's why I was curious about the Muelas. I really like the design of their Hornet tactical, which looks like a decent camp knife, to be used as you describe. I will run a search for some other threads.

Yeah, I originally was planing on getting the JK2 but upon examining it in person at the store changed my mind pretty quick. The JK2 is nothing even close to the JK1. There is a dramatic difference in the quality of construction of the 2 knives. They had both at the store so I dropped the extra cash. It was a royal pain to sharpen but it got there and it holds it pretty good. Its made a few trips into the woods where it performed admirably. Polishing it with flitz has left a straaange finish on it...like hemitite or some of the black DLC coating from Bodycote.
