hi there!
i'm attracted by the S.O.B in one of the blade magazine and intending to get that beautiful piece of art for my own collection.

can anyone pls comment on this blade eg finishing, fitting, quality of material used and of course its value. this is the 1st time i'm buying US custom knife and it will be a wonderful experience. thank a million.

If it is by Charlie Ochs of Florida, the fit and finish will not be lacking. Charlie is a Mastersmith of the American Bladesmith Society and produces excellent knives. I have held some of his from time to time and they are all top quality workmanship. Charlie is the one that told me how to heat treat 52100 about 3 years ago and he knows what he is doing.

It's hard to go wrong with a Master Smith. I would suggest emailing or writing him a letter first and tell him what you want and what you expect.

I have had the good fortune to talk to him on the phone a time or two and see his work at Blade shows and, would certainly look at what he had the table if I was in the market for forged blade.

Stay Sharp,
Sid

I looked and handled one at the Guild Show. Very nice knife, very well made, good working finish (looked like about a 600 grit belt finish then buffed).

I didnt get to ask about price etc... as Mr. Ochs was talking to about 3 people when i was looking at his knife.

Just received one, it has quite a presence and the workmanship is excellent, the knife just begs to be used!

I have had two of Charlie's S.O.B.s and believe me, they don't get any better for the money. Everything about the knives is first class, fit, finish, materials, heat treat, etc. And, they have a beautiful temper line. You won't be disappointed.
