hey guys. i've been contemplating the purchase of a pentagon elite 2 folder and my only issue is blade steel. i noticed it was aus 8a. this is the same steel that is in my CS x2 voyager. i feel like the steel on my voyager is crap:barf: it doesn't hold an edge very well. does the SOG hold an edge better or will i run into the same problems? any help would be great. thanks guys

The quality of knife steel is in its heat treat. SOG, I am told, does an excellent job. I am biased ;) but don't have any CS to compare to...

excellent. if they do an outstanding job then i might just have to get one. i don't have a sog to campare my CS to:D

With any steel, proper heat treatment is VERY important. I have a few Cold Steel knives made with AUS-8A steel, and I have NO problems with them...(It looks like you must have received one of a bad batch, as my CS X2 Voyager is sharp, and stays sharp.). SOG also has the AUS-8A steel that they use heat-treated correctly, so you should have no problem with the Pentagon Elite II.
