I was just wondering how good the pliers(not swisstool) are on SAKs? What about the metal file, could i sharpen a hatchet with it? Any input would be much appreciated.

I have not tried sharpening a hatchet with the file, but the pliers are not bad, really. I have used them for cutting small guage wire, turning stubborn valves, grabbing stuff I don't want to touch with my hands and a variety of other things not come to mind at the moment. You might also think of them as super tweezers.

If you're looking for stout pliers, go with a multi tool like the LM wave, or even the Squirt. I wouldn't trust the SAK pliers for more than very light duty. And the file on the Wave blows away the SAK file, and it locks, which is nice...

The Wave is my next knife. Do you think the SAK pliers are good for tightening nuts on my bike i like the wealth of tools on the SAK and would rather carry that then my nearly tool less LM kick

if by "bike" means bicycle, you should use hex wrenches to tighten the bolts. I heard adjusting a bicycle's bolt with a plier is bad, plus it is much easier to do it with a hex tool. You can pick up a decent hex tool at around $10-15 at any bike shop.

if you mean bike as in motorcycle, than I have no idea there
