I recently got a lightly used Frontier Imperial 4132 I am going to try as an EDC. It feels simular in hand to an Old Timer 340T that I am also carrying quite a bit right now. Lots of differences in the details though like the pull the swedge etc. I was going to post a picture of the two together but every time I think about it I am not close to the Frontier and going to get it then finding a place to take a photo is a bit of pain right now, literally. I broke an ankle last Sunday lol. I think the only laugh my wife had that day was I had taken my knife out of my pocket doing something before we left and I made her go get it before I would leave for the hospital.

I have been wondering since the two companies had the same ownership at that time do they both have 1095 steel and the same quality of heat treat? Figured someone here would know.

The quality of steel and heat treat was the same but your frontier was likely made for them by Camillus. Camillus made a whole list of Frontier knives for them in the mid 1980's.

Thanks. I figured you might be the one who knew. I am happy with the knife but wondered about the steel. How do you tell the imperials on old Schrade equip from the Camillus?

Thanks again,

Don

Sticks,
This is my Frontier Imperial 4512 that I use six days every week as my letter opener.
It was a gift from my Uncle at least 25 years ago ( maybe more ).
If he was here, He would be 102 years old, I think of him almost every time I pick it up.
Codgers reply has prompted me to learn a little more about this knife.
I hope that Your ankle heals O.K., That was a COOL not to leave the house without Your folder.

Thanks Tim. Doc says will be OK after surgery. Wife of 19 years just smiled knowing how I am.
Little Powderhorn knives seem to be a bargain for a US made carbon steel knife. Yours looks nice.

I've got an old Imperial Frontier 4131, good medium Stockman for EDC, even useful for occasional whittling. OH

Old Hunter, My favorite "Delrin Stag" and that is a nice color.

InTheSticks, The knives with wood scales end in 5 and are Stainless.
