First let me say that I understand how to take a quality digital picture. What I dont understand is how to shrink it down to 100k and retain the quality that some of the photo's I see posted here have. The files start out at several megs and have to go to 100k max to post as an attachment. Merely cropping out the unwanted extra and taking it down to oh say an 800x600 image size does not meet the 100K limitation. I have been saving it with a lesser quality to get the size down but I get exactly that, "lesser quality". I have seen some really great, extremely detailed, pics posted here (down to micarta hairs). I would like to be able to post good quality pictures of my Busse's for everyone's enjoyment.

How do you photoshop "masters" do it?

I use Jasc, but to me the trick is to blow up the image to 100% in Jasc or PShop, crop that puppy as much as artistically possible, then using your Photoshop, resize the image down to about 33-50%, then when you save the copy, use your compression option to bring it down to about 100KB, save THAT, upload to Photobucket OR straight to BF.com... should look better? :D
Where's mercmaster, or RAT? or Tony G? Those guys are masters of the Chop. LOL :)

Also, rather than "Save As" use "Save for Web" if you have that option. Will help cut down on the size. Or do what I do and use photobucket.com :)

Or...

BURN HER!!!

No need to resize... open up an account and upload to photobucket. If you prefer to resize then do what Skunk said and use Irfanview...a free (I think its still free) and simple program to use.:)

.

...Or idahoskunk, or KnifeAddictAK... ;) :D They know things!

dialton, I have a Photoshop tutorial on the Gallery Forum, it's a Sticky up at the top entitled, "How I Do Image Editing". It'll walk you right thru sizing your photos.
