Flew down to Laredo, Texas this week.

Watched and took notes as Enrique Pena, one of the very top custom traditional folder makers in the world, hand crafted a Remington 1306 Lockback Folder.

Here's Enrique, for those who haven't met him, milling the lock into the CPM-154 blade.

This is the folder I watched him make.

Remington 1306 Lockback,

3 1/2 inch CPM 154 blade, hollow ground on a 20" wheel

4 9/16ths inch overall

Hand-jigged brown bone handle

Milled 310 stainless integral bolster and liner.

Federal shield

Turned pins and flared thong hole

So in addition to spending some quality time with a really great guy, and acquiring a fantastic new folder, ( even we makers can be rabid collectors) there may be some folding Bowies coming from J.White in the future.

Thanks, Enrique, for your hospitality, your beautiful folder, and especially for your superb instruction. I learned a lot, I hope.

John

P.S. look out for an upcoming Paul Long folder sheath...

He does amazing work.....top notch fit and finish! I have a Zulu spear and it is an amazingly smooth and well crafted knife

I have a Lanny's Clip, he is a superb craftsman, I met him at the Blade Show this year in the Bose Boyz room.
The Lanny's I have is the Avatar photo. I would also like to visit it adds another level to a wonderful hobby and
most importantly Man's First Tool!

Congrats to you both. Looks like a great and productive time.

As the owner of a handful of Enrique's knives from single to three blades I can speak from experience as to the quality of his workmanship.

Terrific!

If I ever get the opportunity to afford a custom, I will be contacting Enrique Pena. There is just something about his work that really grabs me, especially the hand jigged bone.

Congrats, John, sounds like a great time! Good to see you "slumming" over here in Traditionals.
