Quality Torx Bits

OK, I have the Benchmade "blue box" and a Craftsman mini screwdriver with interchangable bits. On both sets, the little "wings" for lack of a better word twist when loosening tight torx head screws. Who make a good set of torx bits that don't exhibit this annoying problem? At this point, price is no object, as long as they will last and save me the frustration!

try www.wihatools.com , they own the patent on Torx screws IIRC. Unfortunatly the smaller bits are fragile, I have to replace drivers about once a week from twisting and just general wear ( though I do this everyday, so mine see alot of use ;) ). Good luck - Charles

I find that the screwdriver type last better than the replacable bits, I buy mine at the local electronics supply house.

Get some from RB Johnson He sells all the torx screws to most of the major knife supply houses. He has some little torx wrenches that he says are the best he's ever used. They look like litte hex wrenches. He just want's a buck or two for them. When I bought some screws from him last time, he just threw in a few of them. Cut off the bend and mount them in a pin vise.

I will second Wiha tools. The power handle torx drivers are great, and not all that expensive either.

Yup yup yup! As I was reading your post, Clark, I was thinking - "wiha" I got three sets on torx, hex and bit-sets that they produce. Quality secong to none.

Thanks for the advice. I will go with the Wiha. Can these be bought locally (Houston, TX) or do I need to buy directly from their web site? Also - do you have individual screwdrivers for each size, or use a handle with interchangable bits? The individual drivers are only $3.50 each, but an all in one handle with bits would be that many fewer tools to store in an already cramped toolbox...

MSC and McMaster-Carr carry the Wiha lineup. I also think I saw an interesting set in the MicroMark catalog.

Thanks all - I ordered a nice Wiha set off Ebay and am looking forward to receiving it.
