Quality Two-Blade Pocket Folder With Saw

You guys get around much more than I do, hopefully somebody can help.
I have a mid-70s Eye Brand double-bladed folder, one blade being a saw.
The saw blade is designed properly, with two rows of alternating teeth, and the spine is narrower than the toothed "cutting" edge to avoid binding in wood.

Not knowing exactly what stainless steel the blades are, I don't necessarily want to risk wearing these teeth out in an emergency if needed. I suspect they'd hold up, but I'm looking for something that's more of a certainty, if possible.

Are there any currently made double-bladed lockback folders with a primary & saw blade of about 3.5-4 inches long, with a correctly designed sawtooth pattern, made of known quality steel, that can be counted on to hold up?

I'm reconsidering my carry-along package for UTV use where the cockpit is cramped, and I've decided a short saw uses much less energy than whacking through branches with a bigger & heavier knife.

Any suggestions appreciated.

a buddy uses a Buck Alpha Crosslock; folder with 3in blade and a saw...don't know how that saw blade is made though...

I saw the Case three-blade Trapper a while back, and looked into sawblade knives. Here's a list:

- PUMA Gold series. (Pretec?)
- Schrade (old U.S. made) 97OT 'Buzzsaw Trapper'. (Doesn't lock.)
- Buck CrossLock.
- Gerber/Freeman 'Exchange-A-Blade'.
- Camillus R3. (I think that's the model #.) They also made made a bare-head lockback with a saw blade, no model #. (Mine is a Boy Scout knife.)
- Wenger #16454. (Don't know if the saw locks.)
- SOG Revolver. (Not a folder per se, but may fit your criteria.)
- Mossberg #4557. (Cheapy import, steel quality is questionable.)

Edited to add: I have a SAK Huntsman with a saw, and I've used the saw occasionally for years: notching branches, cutting & pruning small branches, etc. It's still very serviceable after fifteen+ years.

thx - cpr

Swiss army knife saws are pretty good. I sold my one-handed trekker, but my Outrider's saw has seen a lot of use.

The Swisses are probably your best bet.

Boker offers a large folding hunter that is cataloged as the 4021 that has double locking saw and knife blades. The saw works pretty well, my only complaint is that the locks are not staggared, so you sometimes have to hit both to unlock a blade.

Browning offers a few saw blade models under their FDT line, I have not seen them in person.

Beretta offers a few models with saws, but I haven't handled one.

You might also try Googling "Jagdmesser", this will bring up the traditional German hunting folders with saws.

The Europeans seem to like these knife/saw combinations more than we do:(.

:).

The Pretec Puma looks like a candidate, have an Ebay bid going on a US-made Buzzsaw Trapper.
Crosslock oogly as hell.
Chinese Gerber getting too spotty a review record on Cabela's site & I'm looking for a single-unit dual blade with conventional blade & saw blade.
Camillus R3 sawteeth don't look very well designed.
SWAK/Wenger saw blades are a bit smaller than I'm ideally looking for, I do have a quality multi-tool with a saw blade but I'm looking more for a dual, as opposed to a multi-function, knife/saw.
Mossberg's origin & questionable steel are deal-killers.

Carried for possible breakdown-in-the-wilderness use, it has to work & it has to hold up on both cutting and saw blades.
If I knew the steel on this Eye Brand was up to that, I'd just go with it. Pretty much the right size, just don't know if the stainless is something like 440A & don't want to have to find out the hard way.

After experimenting with larger fixed blades, I do carry one in the UTV's cargo bed, but want something on-body that I know will be with me. The bigger choppers just don't fit on the belt.

You do remind me of the Revolver that I have here, it's a compact proposition for the bucket seat & offers a good-length saw, just don't like a serrated primary blade.
May end up going that route afterall, though. The serrations are the only real complaint I have about that knife, it's a great idea.
Mine is the older discontinued AUS8 version, wouldn't bother with the current 440A.

Thanks very much, guys.
Considered each suggestion.

Boker looks pretty good.
Browning guthook's a no-deal.
Closest Beretta folder has one too many blades.
Tried Jagdmesser & ran into an attention span deficit in looking for an English speaking site.
Sodbuster looks good, I've heard current Schlieper quality is not up to the older knives, anybody have any personal experience?
