Have a gift card for a local store, great I thought I'll go get another Spyderco probably a military; store just quit carrying Spyderco. They have Buck, Benchmade, Kershaw and some others I won't consider. I have a Ritter Griptillian, they have no mini-grips; fairly limited on Benchmade, various versions of the Grip. Not a real fan of Cold Steel but not sure why. Have a number of Kershaws. Any suggestions, have been considering a combo blade. Thanks

Maybe you should have them order something in for you. It doesn't sound like they have anything in stock that grabs your interest.

I'd take Benchmade or Kershaw over Cold Steel any day. Just a personal opinion, of course, but nothing Cold Steel does it for me. At most, I'd consider getting a CS with a Tri-Ad lock for the sheer novelty.

Having just received a Kershaw Piston, I would say I am quite biased when I say: "Look at a Kershaw Piston!"

I've never owned a Benchmade but have had a few Cold Steel knives. They are very solid knives I think, just a little too aggressive looking for me. I like the American Lawman knives. The mini is a nice size and they both lock up solid as a rock. The G-10 is very aggressive and will eat your pocket. The Voyager is the only other model I'd like from CS. I think they are very reasonably priced, very durable knives as long as you don't want a gent's knife. I wish they used a different steel than AUS-8A but it is a good steel. VG-1 is supposed to be similar to VG-10 I think. I wish they used it more. The Tri-ad lock feels VERY strong. I think the knives deserve better steel. Of course the price would go up. :(

It depends on what you want. I've been carrying more spydercos lately, but I still like my BM710D2. Not cheap, but it is a nice knife, and it's been around awhile. Also I like my 741 onslaught but don't carry it much because it is heavy and scares people more than any other folder I own. Or if you want to just spend the card at your store with what they have, maybe a new SAK, a kitchen knife, some knife stuff like a strop and some flitz.... what they have. I went by my local shop the other day and he was looking for a sheath for a large stockman and turns out he has a whole lot of nice sheaths for pretty cheap... I never have trouble buying more blades, I like my Benchmades, they are not cheap, and the one cold steel I own is alright, but it's a pocket bushman, and the lock is a little frightening. have fun.
