There was an article in Blade some time back about the USMC knives and such.
I have seen those with the wide fullers, but I don't recall seeing any with the _small short narrow fullers_ like the Quartermaster blade they had pictured.

This one was a specific Camillus made knife.
There is going to be a Huge Gun & Knife show hee next month ad I want to see if I can pick one up.
I really don't care about the sheath, but I would like the knife to be in at least "good" shape.

What should I look for and about what should I spend on something like this?

I was real impressed with the rport Blade gave on an old one like this.
Thanks for your time.

The civilized man sleeps behind locked doors in the city while the naked savage sleeps (with a knife) in a open hut in the jungle.

Yvsa, I don't remember Camillus making a Quartermaster knife--although I don't know everything--just ask my wife! I have an original Cattaragus 225Q from WWII and a more recent Ontario Army 95. Also Case made a Quartermaster knife designated the Case 337-6Q. If you find a Camillus model, I'd like to know because I own several other Camillus models.

Yvsa,
I've been checking around, and I don't think that we made the Quartermaster's knife. The guy I need to ask is not in this week, so I'll check when he gets back next week and let you know.

My face is red gentlemen.I am most sorry.I was even mistaken as to where I read the material.

Bruce,Will and ghostsir it is the Cattaraugus 225Q that I meant.I had been reading about it in Knives '98 a while back and reading so much, forgot where it was. There is a well written article by Charles W.Karwan.
Oh well if I do Find A Camillus Quartermaster I will grab it and hang on for dear life.

Bruce I hope I won't be out of line asking what one of these knifes may be worth? I really would like to have one, either the Cat 225Q or the Case 337-6"Q.I also don't want to pay a whole lot,so I don't know what I am getting into. The G & K Show is getting closer though!!

I'm not sure how much those two knives are worth on the market. I found mine in the mountains of Utah on a deer hunt. Seems someone else sat on the same rock and glassed the same terrain as me, and after looking for a better part of the rock to put my butt, I found the blade and guard wedged in the rock. It had been sharpened a lot so the blade shape is altered slightly. I put a wooden handle on it (I was only 18 at the time) and made a sheath.

I saw a very good 225Q in a pawn shop in Oregon a year ago for $75 but by the time I got back there with some money, it was gone. They are good knives, very underrated for their WWII service, and if I find another good one, I'm going to buy it!

Thanks Bruce.!!
I haven't priced any kind of Mil knives in so long I will prb'bly faint from price shock.
Back when I was 18 you could get the famous "British Cammando Knife" for $3.00 I had one and I never could tear it up.
I had a good Camillus several years ago and loaned it out to a friend.
I haven't seen either one for years and I don't loan knives anymore.;(
Thanks again.
