Quartermaster Knives: Anyone Have One?

You'll prolly find the info your looking for on another forum. Qt5ster or whatever is not held in high regard here.

Their business has a history of very shady practices and I would not spend any loney on their products. This is well documented here and possibly elsewhere. I prefer to buy items that are advertised honestly. Your Mileage May Vary.

I agree with the issues others have voiced about their knives as well. I have handled several of them and have been disappointed every time.
Owned only one, and will never own another. Had to return it immediately because none of the parts of the knife even fit well enough together to open or close it.

I know this isn't going to be the experience for everyone, but for that money I can always find a better product in this market, so I have no reason to settle on something the might be an "okay" knife.

Nothing wrong with the Mantis Pit Boss I own. I even used thier warranty service for a new pocket Clip. Not sure if the boy (Qrtmster) is the problem or the Father (Mantis).

Whatever bad rap they have was before my time here on BF, and I have owned 2 Mantis knives since. Both were of excellent F/F and good quality.

Mantis isn't the problem. Quartermaster is.

Any company that blocks you, rather than provides information, when you ask a legitimate question, is a company with something to hide.

Not so long ago everyone was trashing Mantis in much the same fashion,

OP if you like Qrtrmster then check out Mantis, much of the designs will look the same. Not sure of what is going on between father and son, but Gary from Mantis was a little gruff to deal with but solved my problems within a couple emails and was free of charge. This was after I told him I wasn't sending him my knife to fiddle with, and that I had already disassembled it many times and had voided the warranty. I have ZERO issue with buying Mantis again if they made something else that suited my tastes. The only reason I'm down to one Mantis is I gave the Chaos Fixed to a guy who fixed my plumbing while I was working and he really liked the style of it, so I gave it to him for payment and he quickly accepted..the Pit Boss is my do all fixing my house knife, cuts carpet/shingle felt/lanolium with ease and keeps a great edge. It was advertised as CPM440V Steel, some will call B.S. as to what kind of steel is really used but I can say it is on Par with any S30v or D2 I have ever used.

I value your opinion, as much as anyone of this forum, Charr! I have absolutely, zero desire to ever buy this brand of knife.

If anyone here, would like to do a little reading (from an older GBU QM thread), be my guest:

I saw a ricardo tubbs with a blade that rubbed against the scales in the closed position. I've seen flea market knives with better blade centering.
