Hi Folks,
I'm watching ebay for the discontinued Kershaw 1030, 1032, 1034, 1035 line of these as I think they are beauties. I see some on ebay with the Kershaw logo on one side of the blade and a model # on the other side. I know that Kershaw sold some of these as "blems" and I think that they may have been marked with xxxx on the blade to distinguish them as blems. I recently saw one 1034 (on ebay)without the 1034 stamped into the blade. It only had the Kershaw logo on the one side but was blank on the other side of the blade. I know its a 1034 by the size specs and the sheath is stamped 1034. Since this knife has no model stamp on the blade could it be a blem too? Were some produced that did not have the model # stamped on the blade and if so could it still be a factory first and NOT be a blem? Please, if you know the facts, pass them on to me. I want to buy this on ebay (being sold as new) but don't want to bid top price for a blem. Paul S. (Mootsnut)

It may have been repaired at some time. I'm not sure what the whole history is for Kershaw repair, but right now, they replace with blank blades (no etchings). Maybe some time in the past they only did partial etchings for repaired blades. But I'm pretty sure that "XXXX" has always been the mark for Blem, at least as far as their warranty is concerned.

Something else to be careful of are fakes if there are no markings.

yes there were some of those models , in fact a lot of them without the model designation on them. I don't think you could find any with x's other than a handful of 1030's the others were never blems to my knowledge. Other than the 1030, they were all discontinued in the nineties, most sheaths will say Wilsonville, some earlier will be Lake Oswego.

Thanks to all of you for your input. You have been very helpful and now all I have to do is win the bid and not break my bank. Paul S..
