Hi,

I am seeking information about the single blade queen folding hunter #44. ( don't care about handle)I have searched several times and can't seem to find any comments.

I am especially interested in how this knife would compare to a Buck 110 which I love except that it is so gosh darn heavy. I honestly have more trouble with twisting a blade trying to pop off wood shavings and developing bladeplay than I do with the knife closing so the locking feature of the Buck however strong is no big advantage to me in this case.

Perhaps a large toothpick would be even better/lighter???

My end goal is to have a large general use folding knife for hiking/camping. I know it will be mostly a toy for mental and emotional happiness/secuirity but regardless, I want one. By the way I EDC a case barehead 31048 and whenever firebuilding woodwork is invloved I will always have my Wetterling hatchet with me.

I appreciate any comments as I just love the traditional aspect of both knives.

I don't post much but you guys really make for a interesting lunch break, and coffee break, and whenever I am feeling sneaky break.

Both are good knives, I've owned both and still own several 110's.

Even though i am a die hard D2 fan, for a general purpose knife, I would lean towards to Buck 110 over the Queen #44.

Now if anyone from Buck stumbles on this thread and gets the idea for a run of D2 110's...... :D

I will check tonight after work, but I think I have a nib Queen #44. Of course I have a Buck 110 that has been through it all. The Queen was much better fitting for my hand and that was the reason I bought it. It needs a sheath which why it's still in the box.

DR.Pepper, I have had a Queen model 44 for quite a while now, and several buck 110's. The queen is a nice, rugged knife, and holds an edge for a long time, but is no where near the buck when it comes to cutting ability. The queen has thicker bevels, and it tends to bind in wood, plastic and other harder materials. For a larger knife that will cut like crazy, it is hard to beat a sod buster. Case sod busters are less than 30$ and Boker under 20$, and both are very sturdy utility knives. Sod busters are also lighter than the queen 44. Case 31048's are a wonderful edc. Joe

If you want a really good, tough, dependable folder, check out the Cold Steel Voyager series. It's as good as it gets!

Semper Fi!
