Just received this 2012 Queen City #31 half congress and thought I'd post some pics. Queen got this one right. No gaps, nice even bone coloration, nice pull with great snap, very good fit and finish. If I had to pick out one flaw it would be that the pen blade sits a little low when closed. It's difficult to engage the nail nick. If the pen blade was a bit higher, the point would be exposed so I understand why Queen finished it the way they did....but.....they should have designed a relief cut on the pile side.
Overall I'm very pleased with it.

I really like the color of that bone. Queen did a great job.

You could try gently peening the kick to get the pen nick to sit a little higher. With the height of the sheepfoot main blade, I don't think that having the pen's point above the handle would snag on anything. Just go slowly, but know that if you go too far you could gently file it back again.

Thanks RobbW....I've peened the kick on other knives with good results but this one is going into my Queen collection. It's not a user.

Great looking knife! I've been eyeing those for a while now. That bone is just awesome!

I've got one of these too. Not quite perfect, but I was looking for a user. It has been a fantastic companion. Great bone, very nice fit and finish, and a fantastically thin ground main. Perfect for my amateur carving efforts.

That is a lovely knife. I was kind of put off by my two queen purchases (Burke, and Pardue collabs) so I have not ventured more purchases from them. Though I would love a nice example of their large stockman in amber bone and D2!!!

Wow RRacontuer, that is no amatuer whittling job. I love the looks of that Queen half congress. It seems to be a new addition to my ever growing wish list. :D

That's actually the first ball-in-a-cage I ever attempted. I guess I'm patient. 😄 👍

Great idea.

I've filed a little nail notch in scales before just to make them easier to dig out, but since its a safe queen...

That is a fine looking knife. I really love the bone covers. Seriously digging the jigging.

I'm going to have to look into getting some of that. :D
