Well I have not been too active on the knife front as of late (work and more work) but after selling a few knives off I could not resist picking up this Queen City Cutlery Classic English Jack set 008. :D Antique Greenbone, Ebony wood, Stag and Winterbottom.

100 pieces made with each one having a serial number, nickel silver liners and bolsters, 1095 high carbon steel, closed length 4 1/2". The Queen City Cutlery Classic shield was from back in 1928 and it is pinned on nickel silver. Pretty much made to be a collector set.

Makes me want to buy one,use it & scratch it up (not intensionally , of course) or,look for an oldie like that
Gorgeous knives , a serious affliction we all have.

Nice knives! Thanks for the pics, Burstfeller! I like that the etches are different, stating the handle material. I'm gonna have to get me some!!

Beautiful knives Sb. I especially like the greenbone scales. Interestingly, the master blade is in the front and the pen blade must open from the other side. I like the grooved bolsters and long nail nicks. Thanks for showing them.

Hmmm very observant as usual SK, the pen blade does open from the other side, here is a picture of the backside.

Thanks for the great comments everyone, they are very much appreciated. :)

I have several knives with that configuration for the pen blade. At first I thought I wouldn't care for it too much, but it seems to work just fine for me.

Those are beautiful knives. I have the green one It's a nice EDC :)

I went with the Ebony. #96. Great F&F Easily as nice or nicer than my Schatt & Morgans recently purchased.

Beautiful knives sunburst...and the photos...well they are terrific!

Thanks for showing those. :)

I have the ebony handled one (#40) and the fit and finish is top shelf. I'm thinking of getting the greenbone version, too. Nice collection, Sunburst.

I have to admit that I am not a big ebony fan but the ebony on this particular knife cries out to be used and held...

Those are great OLD LOOKING knives. I'm a sucker for a good English Jack pattern and those are dandies.

A lot of people feel the way you do about ebony. Ebony has a bad reputation for some reason but I have seen some excellent old ebony handled knives with perfect scales. Ebony holds up better over time than you would think and probably equals bone and stag as far as movement(expansion and contraction). It is a very stable material and, if you didn't already know, widely used as fingerboards for stringed instruments of all kinds...because it's stable.

Great looking knives Sunburst! I'm a sucker for a vintage jack, and those are about the finest Queens I've seen:thumbup:

I can tell you ebony holds up. It was on the deck of the ship I sailed on during Vietnam. CS-73 USS St. Paul. Those were the original decks from WWII and they took a beating for 30 some years. Ebony is good stuff.
