:( I bought a couple of the Queen City tang marked trappers from SMKW for what i thought was a great deal.1095 blades in a traditional style full size trapper.Black cherry delrin scales.Sounds great, right?Well,im not a real picky guy and i love Queen knives. My dad carried a 4" stockman for many years and even cleaned deer with it along with a pickup bed load of birds. This thing is no bargain as i could have bought 3 Rough Riders for the same money. The spey blade is literally butter knife dull.Im pushing it into my thumb hard in the pic.And there is a huge gap at the liner. Its no big deal to me.Ill have it shaving in 5 minutes and will probably change the handles out and straigten up the liner. But imagine what a novice knife collector or worse,a user would think of this. Why is Queen trying to cut their own throat?Yes,it's the low end of the company offering, but come on.

I had same thing with Queen Canoe. 1st sample main blade so loose you could rattle it when it was open. 2nd one had gaps all over the place. I just sent it to my friend in the states, who can put it into Queen for me.

Gaps were huge. I could have slide folded A4 copy paper easily thru back sping and liner if there wouldn't have been pivot pins. That was so sad... I hope that what I get back is better.

They do need to watch their quality control. I have 5 or 6 Queens, and they all seem to be ok. I hope they reel it in. Did you send it back?

I picked up a Queen City gunstock, while dull, the fit and finish were great, I couldn't be happier. I hate inconsistencies in quality, it sure makes you gun shy about spending your hard earned dollars!

Nah,Ive got it tore apart in the shop.I can make a good knife out of it.I love 1095 in a carry knife.Im just concerned they are letting them slip through so poor.Maybe SMKW bought a bunch of 2nds and failed to mention it.Actually, the other one i bought in black looks fine.

I recently bought a Country Cousin wich is probably the lowest end of their offering and couldn't be happier about it (aside from it being dull but I guess most people here buy their Queens knowing that already and so do I).
In the same purchase I got a small stockman and that went right back into the box as the main blade has so much play I was disgusted by it! Living in Europe, returning it is not an option for me, so mixed feelings about Queen knives for sure...

While I feel your pain Seals, my DB barlow was pretty bad, I can't wait to see what you do with it.

Compared to most members here, I'm a novice. I've seen that and worse with production slip-joints I've bought online. I've received new pocket knives with gaps, crooked liners, and blades that scratch against each other. Some were so bad, I sent them back to the manufacturer and have gotten a replacement with the same problems. The only Queen pocket knife I have is a very nice Cozy Glen Canoe that, thankfully, had no major issues, although I may have tapped the bolsters with a rubber mallet to tighten the blades slightly. I've had good luck with GEC knives and their quality has been high. I've got a number of Victorinox alox models. The quality is high and the price low. I carried a Pioneer for years and love the consistency of the 93mm alox models.

That filework is certainly and improvement on those gap stricken liners/springs:D

Fine workmanship:thumbup:

WHOA! nice work there!

Even though you got a lemon, how would you say the build quality was? a sturdy working tool? I've been eyeing that gunstock but haven't pulled yet.

Well, I hope all that was worth killing your warranty!

JUST KIDDING!!

That's gorgeous work. I think anyone would be thrilled to have that one in their pocket. Nicely done.

Thanks for the comments! Yes,overall Queen builds a great knife.Very nice steel.Really the major fault was the totally missed to sharpen spey blade.Any(not a knife guy)person would think that a cheap junk Frost tv knife was better because at least it would cut his sandwich.Im sure they are cutting every possible corner.Maybe one too many.Hopefully they will make through these tough times and come out shining.

I returned a mountain man for blade play and got another that was tight, but after I sharpened it the blade loosened up quite a bit.It also had a gap between the liner and bolster on one side that I couldn't get past. Thats how I ended up with the #9 stockman. The stockman is great. The pattern is identical to a 1925-1945 Queen City stockman I have in size and shape. The blades are a bit different. The old Queen City is like a razor blade and the new one was like a butter knife. Seals, it looks like a convex edge from the pictures. When I sharpen I try to get that edge. I call it the Moran edge coined from an old Ken Warner Knives Illustrated.
Queen customer service is great but I doubt they would give you handles and filework like that.
