This improved muskrat was a Christmas gift from my wife.
The clip blade is marked D-2,the warny with the "Q",and,it's gotta be carbon ?
So,was it made with "parts" ?
Do any of you have other Queen slips like this ?
Thanks,
-Vince

Nice looking Muskie!

I don't have a Queen Classics slip, but I have a Q.C. #3L Mountain Man in 420HC.

The D-2 blade on this one seems thinner than other D-2 blades I've had on Queen's

That may be due to it being a Muskrat, I had a Carved Stag Bone Queen Muskrat, and the blades on it were REALLY thin compared to other Queen D2 slipjoints I have. They were almost 1/2 as thick on the Muskrat.

Don't blame you, that stag is pretty nice! I wish I could have got a #49 with stag that nice on it. :D

Vince,
Do you think it's carbon? Like 1095? or D-2 steel?
I can't imagine that they could heat treat a carbon steel blade like D-2 & have it come out. But maybe the heat treat isn't all that different.

I peel an apple with the warny,it turns black.I peel an apple with the clip ,it doesn't
I think, the warny blade marked with a "Q" is from an older run of knives,at first,I thought ss,but after using it,it has to be carbon.
If it is D-2,it is different than the clip,or something is wrong with it.
It takes an edge good,I think it's carbon,like 1095

Interesting information here. I have the same Queen Classic Muscrat --in bone, and never suspected that the two blades were different. It is one if my favorite Queens and knowing the difference definitely adds character to the knife!

davmgt,Are the blades marked the sme way? Did you ever use the warny for food or something & see it patina, just confirming that it's carbon?
I should've taken a picture of the way they did the single spring on this knife
Thanks,
-Vince

In the past, Queen has "mixed" steels in knives, some 2 blade knives in the past have had ATS-34 main blades and 420HC secondary blades.

Mine are marked in the exact same way. I have used both blades extensively, but neither has a patina. The wharnie does seem to take a keener edge though.
