I found this on eBay and wonder if any of you guys know anything about it:

blackqueencopperhead.jpg

It is listed with black wood scales and 1095 CS blade. Price is reasonable. I don't see anything on the Queen website about it. Is it legit?

Blades appear to be satin finish instead of polish, no blade etch. Can't see the full tang stamp in the photo. Makes me wonder.

If it is legit, I could spring for one at the price it is being offered.

Would it be older production? I don't see it in "stores" or on Queens website (that doesn't particularly surprise me though).

Queen's website is horribly outdated....something I don't understand at all. Smokey Mountain Knife Works has this knife on their website.

10-4, I knew Queen's website was likely stale. Not sure I really want one, but maybe.

Thanks...now you've got me wanting one. :)

Nice price on this one.

looks fantastic. now I want one too!

Sorry, I wasn't wanting to tempt anyone. Really, I wasn't. Really.

They are pretty inexpensive (for a Queen). That's what got me wondering what it was I was looking at. They make it in two or three different wood scales, a stag version, and two different (yellow and white) delrin.

It could be a real sleeper.

When I think of "black wood", I think of ebony, but surely if it was ebony they would say "ebony", so I don't know what kind of "black wood" it is.

Heck $30 for suxh beauty Queen, I'd be interested too but I doubt I get seller ship it, nor I have money ATM. However Ed, that looks wonderful knife. You should get one. If you don't like it, you can always ship it to me :D

Well, I broke down and ordered one of these last week and it came today. I have been working on it a little, but the knife is pretty nice considering that it is an everyday work knife. The black wood scales (I doubt seriously if it is real blackwood) are quite nice and it arrived almost sharp enough to use. There was a bit of sloppiness on the blade grind, but I worked on that with a piece of 320 grit wet/dry on the tabletop to even it up and it looks quite nice now. The trailing point blade looked better than the clip so I haven't addressed it yet. I'll get a picture or two up tomorrow so you all can see what this thing looks like. For the money I spent on it, I am quite happy for now.

Guys, please take a moment to revisit the guidelines. It's fine to discuss the knives or show images and ask about their legitimacy or not.

It's not fine to post the sites where said knives may be purchased online. (That belongs in email, PM's or visitor messages.)

EDITED TO ADD:

I realize that this is an older thread brought back to life but the same rules applied then as now, so the "revisit" is germane.

Well, my light source is up so I could get some pictures of this knife. It came to me with some funny looking grind patterns at the tip of the clip blade, so I straightened that out with my poor man's belt sander (a sheet of 320 grit wet/dry laid flat on my work table). As luck would have it, my 320 grit was just about a perfect match for the skinning blade finish.

The knife itself is pretty well done with black wood (favors a dymondwood) scales and satin finished 1095 carbon steel blades. It came almost sharp enough to use, but after working the blade finish, I got too lazy to sharpen it last night. I'll get it today. This size knife is right in the sweet spot for me. I like it and may pick up another one or two of the series.

Now for the pictures...

I don't think the finish on these is quite as good as the Bokers I've seen, but it is still a good looking knife. I will be carrying it in the next week.

The clip blade is lightly swedged, but the skinner just has the sharp edge broken (light chamfer) at the spine. Just thought I'd mention that if you can't see it in the photos.

Pretty sure these were SFOs, and there were also some made in different patterns with yellow synthetic handles, also with 1095 blades. They also had some made up with Queen City tang stamps and nice stag with the 1095 blades.

I like full size Copperheads. The only ones I ever had are Case though.

I'm thinkin thats a good looking knife. The scales give it a nice old timy look imho, and with 10905, it can't be all bad

Does it have half stops ?
