Has anyone reviewed any of the Queen D2 folders on this site. These trappers sell for about 40-60 bucks on E-bay. I have never owned a D2 knife, so this seems like a reasonable price to try one out. I am not expecting a Dozier for that price, but if anyone has any experience with these knives, I would appreciate your input, such as sharpening ease and edge holding. Thanks much.

Yes, there's tons of info on the site about them.

They're good knives, I have two myself. Great value.
And made in the USA.

cumberlandknifeworks is a great source for them.

They are pretty good knives. Fit and finish from good to excellent. There is some hand work that goes into them, so there can be sometimes flaws, none of which affect function. They have a good warranty department if it needs to be sent back. Sometimes the edge angle can be a bit obtuse, but if you have a good coarse stone, that's not a problem. Queen D2 gets a gentle patina, but can pit if not rinsed/wiped off after things like pickle juice. The carved stag bone and cocobolo lines are a little more premium, but you can get the same blades in delrin for more like $30. They are supposed to be dumping cocobolo for hard rock maple this year.

I've purchased two of the D2 Queens. Both had very excessive blade play. To make matters worse, the edges were VERY obtuse. D2 isn't exactly easy to reprofile either, especially when you're reprofiling 3 blades. I had good luck with my slightly older ATS-34 Robesons (same company), but my Queen D2s have been very disappointing for me.

I have the queen D2 teardrop carved bone, and the gunstock D2 carved bone folders. they have both been great folders. The only thing I have found is I had to look over a couple before getting ones that had a decent factory edge, and good grind lines.

Overall, Ive been quite happy with them.
