Hi,I am new to the forums.I recently purchased a queen toothpick slipjoint with bonestag handles and d2 bladesteel. nice knife, any opinions welcome bob

You will find that the D2 will hold an edge better than just about any other production slipjoint out there. And it will be more difficult to sharpen, too. Hope you have diamond stones.

Go to http://eknifeworks.com/ and Search for "DMT". They've got a lot of sizes and shapes and grits of diamond sharpeners.

Something like their Fine/Coarse Double-sided Diafold Diamond Whetstone comes in a butterfly handle and gives you two convenient grits and the size is suitable for a pocket knife.

Remember to maintain a good edge. Once you let a tough steel like D2 go really dull, it is very difficult to resharpen. But touch-ups on ceramic sharpeners like the Spyderco Sharpmaker are easy, and provide you with a good edge all the time.

I don't understand why so many people complain about D2...I reprofiled and resharpened all my blades to 40 degree inclusive on my D2 Large Stockman, in around 1 hour. Just for comparison, on a 420HC Schrade knife, it took about 40 minutes...
