Hi all,
the Queen Dan Bourke Big Barlow is, as per the name, a big folder

Here whit a Victorinox 91 mm, for comparison

The Queen DBBB is a slip-joint, the spring is really strong, here you may see the half-stop

The knife handled

I want a “perfect” walking stick

The woods I need is 3 cm in diameter, long 1,70 meter

First, I work the point of the stick, I want a strong point to obtain a good grip on the terrain

Now, the handle, is to be well rounded and highly visible

How long is to be the walking stick? The walking stick need to arrive just below the shoulder

and the reason is that a long stick allow you to push on climbing and to sustain yourself on the descent

The walking stick is done, in few minutes

The Queen Dan Bourke Big Barlow was really good on this small task, fairly comfortable, … and also beautiful I guess

Ciao,
Alfredo

cool I love making walking sticks, finding the right stick is like a treasure-hunt on eahc hike!

Nice post Alfredo, thanks.

It looks like a very healthy sized knife. A good companion for a day hike.

I had been wondering about the back spring. My only Queen is a bit weak on that front, so I have been nervous to try some of their other models.

Have a good weekend.

More great photos and great knives from our friend in Italy! :D

Thank you kindly.

A nice straight walking stick, light and strong, is a pleasure to use.
Nice job, Alfredo.
The Barlow looks like a good sturdy knife for the task, and its warm bone color belongs in the woods!
Good looking, but easy to find if you drop it!

I always marvel at your perfect straight walking sticks Alfredo  And the knives of course ;) Another nice thread my friend.

Alfredo, I always enjoy your threads . Great looking day you had from the looks of it. How do you like that Mountainsmith pack?

Fun thread, very nice knife by Dan and Queen along with a good lesson on the "perfect" walking stick.

Puts a smile on my face.

Thank you Alfredo!

Thanks to all of you, guys!

,òrickgolfer: I like so much the Mountainsmith pack, big volume available and so light!

I have the same Burke Grandaddy barlow, and it is a strong pull. I put it about a 7 out of 10, maybe a bit more.

But because the blade is so proud, you can pinch it open.

I have another queen with weak snaps on two out of the three blades (Pardue collab canoe/gunboat).
