Queen Folding Hunter....I want one!!!

I've been reading around and everybody seems to be talking about,"queen this," and,"Queen that." Well I visited the Queen site and I really want a D-2 Folding Hunter.

It looks exaclty like my Case Folding Hunter with the exception of the blade steel. D-2 is one of my favorite steels and now I found it on one of my new favorite knife designs. I have to get one now.

I do have a question about it though, how much does it weigh?

My Case Folding Hunter (two blades, clip point and skinner) is 7.8 oz, if it's about the same that would be great.

If anyone has any info on how it performs or the weight issue, please let me know, thanks, J.

If my memory holds, I'd say mine was roughly in the same weight class or a little under a Buck 110, so around 6-7 ounces.

The Queen Amber BoneStag ones are really nice!

Queen are great knives but a lot of them come with "thick" edges and are hard to get really sharp. Their D2 knives are notorious for being difficult to thin out.

I'm not justifying Queen's spotty attention to their bevels and edges but at least the problem is manageable with diamond hones if you're willing to put in a little time.

I agree, however, that it is irritating at best.

I just started to carry Queen this year (4 Blade congress and a Trapper) and really like the Folding Hunter Frame, which is on my need to buy list.

After reading what others have posted, I was a little worried about the grind on the Blades and sharpening the D2 steel.

After finding that I could sharpen these knives and how well they hold there edge, it has not only made me a Queen fan, but also a fan of D2 steel.

I will be buying more.

My two-blade folding hunter (#39) with cocobolo scales weighs 6.90 oz. The bone handled version will weigh a little more. Here's mine with a couple 112s for scale:

Nice looking knives guys . Personally, I really like D-2 for it's edge holding abilities, and besides, who doesn't like the sound of having "tool steel" for their knife blades.

Diamonds pretty much put the edge on things nowadays, and finishing off with an arkansas stone makes the edge smooth and perty ;).

Next time I get a good check I'll take a better look as to which kind of Folding Hunter I want, handle wise. Keep those responses and pics coming, J.
