MM knives are made by Queen and are a bit more expensive than a similar Queen model. the handle material is different and steel is 1095 instead of D2.
is fit and finish quality similar, or is MM a higher line ? how do MM owners feel about these knives ?

If you mean these 1095 Moutian Man folders....

Crimson Bone, Sambar Stag and Rootbeer Bone,

They are the same as Queen's other ones in D2, just with different handles and good old carbon steel.

I like them a lot, the Sambar Stag ones are really slick, the stag scales are very thick with lots of color.

i am referring to Moore Maker. i have read a wide range of opinions but went ahead and ordered a MM serpentine-smooth for $94. i guess i'm looking for reassurance that this might be a really good knife, maybe "better" than my Queens.

OK, sorry I misunderstood you, I took "MM" for "Mountain Man" instead of "Moore Maker"...hadn't had my coffee yet!

I have 1 Queen made Moore Maker, a 5302 Cattle King Stockman, built on Queen's #49 pattern.

It's yellow bone and 1095 and is very high quality, fit and finish are as good as Queens own stuff or maybe a little nicer.

The factory edges were not that great, but being 1095 it was very easy to touch them up in quick order.

Enjoy your MM and let us know how you like it!

I thought Mountain Man too... Ok, I ordered a Mountain Man from Cumberland, in 1095, it had too much blade play for my liking. Returned it and ordering a Moore Maker Whittler. It is sweet, my favorite slippie. It was a little pricey, but the look, feel and design are awesome. It is not 100% and for a $70ish dollar pocket I knife I'd expect a little more. Main issues are the some light blade rubbing and spring pressure. The main blade has broken mine and a friend's thumb nails. For the other blades, one opens a little too easy, the other is fine. In this design the two springs appear to form the "spring for the main blade, but boy it is tough to open.

Blades needed sharpening.

All being said, the Moore Maker is my dress knife, my Case and Boker see harder use and perform well. The Case has survived numerous drops on the driveway. Case is stainless, Boker is carbon.

You're absolutely right that opinions seem to vary about Moore Maker, but for me, they're one of my favorite brands. I have about eight MM knives. One thing you can be sure of, they stand behind their product. If for some reason there's something about the knife that dissappoints you, you'll be able to get it replaced no problem. In addition, all of the MM dealers I've dealt with are really good people as well. From whom did you buy it if you don't mind my asking?

well, i ordered the following knives from Cumberland: Queen - bird hook knife bem, mini folding hunter-csb; folding hunter 2 blade-acsb; one hand opener trapper-bem (same as premium trapper ?); Canal- ring opener; MM serpentine- smooth.
i bought a puma companion 3 months ago, then discovered this forum and i realized i did not have to hide the fact that i love knives anymore. never met anyone else who was really into them. had about 50 knives at that point, mostly low end production, and a few old ones from my dad (i'm 60).
besides the above knives, i also bought a beautiful sebenza-large classic with box elder burl; fehrman peacemaker; hinderer xm 18; queen RAT cattleman's folder; eye brand sodbuster; lone wolf harsey T1; spydercos- poliwog, dragofly & lava (gifts to children); CR shadow lV, S&M widcat driller, ontario RAT 3, and perhaps my favorite, case hobo.
i have also read about an addiction to knives. i believe it. however spring is close so i can get out and work and try all these knives. i really don't feel i need any more right now.
