So, today I picked up a Queen Stockman. I know by the tang stamp that it was manufactured after 1984. It did not have a box and there's no model number stamped on it. It was presented to me as Winterbottom bone. I know some of there knives were Winterbottom jigged Delrin. Is there any way to be sure, one way or another? It's a 3 1/2" model with SS blades, and dark brown scales. Either way, I'm very pleased with it.

I have winterbottom queens from several different decades and only one of them are actually genuine bone. At any rate, the difference between the winterbottom delrin and bone is quiet discernible. For me, the winterbottom delrin is very classic queen.

It's most likely delrin but you can tell by looking at the edges and the jig pattern, bone will have noticeable grain and pores where the dye took darker. Delrin is more consistent looking with no grain or other discerning features, other than looking like plastic.

Here's a trapper that's definitely delrin. Hope it helps.

And here's a stolen picture of one that's bone. If you look at the ends where it's polished down to meet the bolsters you can see the pores where the dye sunk deeper as was mentioned earlier.
