Hi, all,

Would the Country Cousin in D2 be a good work knife? I know nothing about sodbuster-type knives. How's the quality of this and their fixed blade knives/sheaths? Which fixed blade would you recommend? Thanks for your time!

In short, yes. F&F is usually great, and it's one heck of a knife for the money. :D
I would have to agree, don't own that particular model, but the only drawback is that I have reprofiled the edges on the D2 Queens I do own.

I have the Queen Stockman and that D2 is fantastic for edge holding, once you thin it out some, like the other guys have said. Very good quality.

For fixed, I've been using a 4180 with Micarta grips, and have been very impressed (once I thinned out the edge). Great knife, a little smaller than I thought it would be, but that's ok, it's just about right for what I want, skinning, whittling, etc.

Did I mention that D2 really holds an edge?

Run it at about 30 degrees, and it'll cut like a scalpel. Of course, you need to avoid hard objects, but I've seen people skin out deer with it with but a steeling in between.
