Queen's Rawhide Series seemed to simply have 440 series stainless etched onto their blades. Most times that would mean 440A is the grade, but I have also read Queen used alot of 440C... Does anyone know the particular grade used on their rawhide series? Thanks in advance :-)

Based on my research, Queen had switched from 440C to 440A by about 1979 - IIRC the Rawhides were introduced after that maybe by 81. So I would guess that they are all 440A.

Interesting. I didn't realize Queen had used 440A until recently (well 420HC,being similar). I have a Big Chief from that era, probably early 80s,but no telling when it was made and it is difficult to sharpen like 440C.

I bought this Queen off the bay and the etch was polished off. My research into the knife is that it is a Rawhide series 39F Q78 which makes it a 1987 knife.

Ed was vaccinated with a phonagraph needle. Didn't affect him...Didn't affect him.... Didn't.......:-)
Email Queen, last time I had a question concerning materials they dug up the answer and responded within a few days.
