Queen Utility Knife

As noted, I've been on a Slimline Trapper kick recently. Yeller handles, brown handles, red handles -- got 'em all. Well, not the green one, and that's a "maybe".

But I started looking further afield and found the Queen "Utility Knife" in various handle materials. Despite the name, this looks like a higher end Slimline Trapper (not barehead, it has a cap).

I'd have already ordered one of these knives except for one thing: They're only available in Queen D2 steel. I've got three D2 Queens: The fixed blade came super sharp, the slipjoints required hours of reprofiling to make them usable. I've been a pretty vocal critic of Queen's D2 because of this.

I want one of these knives, though.

Does anyone have one of these Utility knives, and if so, what's your overall impression? Did it arrive sharp, or at least with bevels on the blade? Is there any indication that Queen has improved in this area?

C'mon: Sell me on this knife!

I have one in cocobolo and man did it ever arrive sharp!
(Well, that's because my buddy Ford had it reprofiled by Tom Krein first!)

Awesome little knife. And quite the cutter at sub 2 ounces.

I have one I got on ebay for under 30 new in Carved Stag Bone the whitish black scales. This was reasonably sharp unlike other Queen Cutlery I've had...and touches up ok.But I like this type of knife a lot as it is unobtrusive in the pocket but has a long useful blade. I think the current offering is Amber Bone Stag a really attractive colour, the Teardrop Linerlock I have in this has a rich tone and jigging. So, I'd get one, you need to get a Green Slimline Trapper too...check the Bermuda Green Pocket Worn, it's sent me into orbit:D

I alway rebevel a Queen, but I always sharpen all my new knifes, if I am doing to use them.

I have two slimline utlity.

One in Brown Winterbottom delrin.
I sharpened it and it is a super user in the kitchen and picnics. It going camping soon....
Easy opener (not soft), I like that.
There is a definte pause in the middle, almost a mid stop.

One in Maple. there is some lovely wood on that knife.
I have not sharpened it yet....
Its time will come....

I didn't get one in Cocobolo, hence the Maple.
But I did get a slimline trapper with a long clip and spey in Cocobolo.
The wood has blond in it!
Also a nice knife

It does not.

(Whoops. I see that I'm a day late and a dollar short in my reply.)

Sam, have you tried one yet? As I wrote, mine arrived sharp-for once-and it's a really pleasing knife. You may find the Amber Bone EVEN MORE attractive as it's a fine handle choice. The Slimline Trapper/Utility is fast becoming my knife of choice,Queen Cutlery or CASE,magnificent pattern:thumbup:

Not yet. I've got several knives in this pattern already, so I'm having a hard time justifying another at this moment. It is likely, however.

Mine arrived today, and I'm very pleased with it. The amber CSB is beautiful, and looks like it will get even better with age. F&F is top notch, with a perfectly centered blade, flush springs, and I am very happy to report an extremely sharp D2 blade. Yes! My curse is broken! I got a sharp D2 knife from Queen!

The placement of the nail nick on the blade gives you more leverage when opening it, which is nice. The shield is a tiny bit proud of the scale, which may make it more susceptible to popping off, but I'll keep my eye on it.

This one get the !!
