Queensryche releases new album April 4th

Rock, Revenge, Redemption… the long-awaited sequel. Queensryche’s 1988 opus Operation: Mindcrime is a musically adventurous rock opera revolving around Dr. X, a political puppet master who brainwashes Nikki, the story’s main character, to assassinate corrupt public figures. The story also includes Nikki’s lover, Sister Mary. A former teenage prostitute who becomes a nun, Sister Mary is murdered mysteriously, leaving the cliffhanger, “Who Killed Sister Mary?” Set 20 years after the original, Queensryche’s new 2006 studio album, Operation: Mindcrime II, explores Nikki’s fate after being released from prison and reveals the identity of Mary’s killer.

I liked the first album alot. Great songs from start to finish. From what I heard of it already I think this one is going to be just as good. I like the idea of knowing the end of the story. Geoff Tate can still belt it out.

Tate's range is nowhere near what it used to be.

Of course not. After 18 years that tends to happen but he still has it where it counts.

I belive this is going to be one that I'll need to listen to a few times to get into it. Mindcrime is one of my favorite albums of all time. I was expecting it to sound more like that, but that was also 18 years ago.

I did see them in concert this year. They played many of their old songs plus mindcrime in its entirety. Geoff Tate was hitting all the notes that night. He still has it. I will admit that his voice sounds more subdued on Mindcrime II.

I'm listening to it now. Thanks!

Mindcrime is still in my top 20. A great album that "drove" me when I liked to drive... Make sense?

18 years?!? Man am I getting old...

I remember going to see The Who in 1982 on the "It's Hard" tour and thinking that these guys rocked hard for old dudes. It only came to me that Pete Townsend was only 37 at the time when I went to a concert celebrating James Hetfields 40th birthday a few years ago.
