So I have had an unbelievably hard time getting anywhere with maxim oil. I desperately need more parks 50. But email after email gets me no where. I will get a response saying ok we with get you a price quote (25gal on a pallet). I will respond with thank you I need this ASAP. And then get nothing. Contact them again and get an oh sorry we where expecting our shipment but it’s not here yet. I respond I need a quote on shipping me bulk on a pallet. Also what’s the price for a 40-55gal drum drop shipped straight to me. And....... no response.

it took around a month to get them to respond the first time. But I can’t deal with inconsistency as I need oil. We are building a much bigger quench tank. So my question is this has any one used McMasters quench oil. I know parks 50 is the golden standard but I also know McMaster is crazy fast shipping. The only thing is the quench speed on the McMaster stuff is not as fast.

Did you call them? They've always been very helpful and get my order out right away.

Hey we actually have really cheap access to good Quench Oils over here in the UK, from a Sussex based Supplier called Rye Oil. They have a Parks 50 and Parks aaa equivalent. 25 Litres for only £50 (Around 70 USD)
I'm ordering a 25 litre jug off them next week (aaa equiv quench oil 32)
Maybe they can do international shipping, they also have an Ebay account. I'm going to be using their 32 aaa equiv for my O1. £50 for 25 litres, thats a good price.

I use McMaster-carr 11 second quench oil that I buy direct from them. It inbetween parks 50 and AAA. Its much cheaper too.

EDIT: I am sorry I didnt read your full post and see that you mentioned McMaster-Carr is too slow for your needs. Please disregard.

Parks AAA is a 9-11 second oil so the McMaster-Carr 11 second would not be in between Parks 50 and AAA.

I have never had to call them in the past. Just communicate over email. But that other website is way cheeper anyways so no point and the hassle. I did end up getting a freight quote for a pallet of 25gal and it’s still cheeper going with the other company.

I almost started a thread about buying direct from Dubois before I saw this one. I recently discovered that you can buy 5 gallons of each direct from Dubois (the manufacturer) for about $230 shipped (for both) compared to the $250-300 shipped for just 5 gallons of Parks 50 from most resellers.

It took less than a week for my oil to arrive after ordering.

when I got 5 gallons of parks 50 it was from maxim oil, in 2020 it was only $108 plus shipping, Pops Knife supply currently has it in stock for $150 for 5 gallons. So it’s not that much cheaper getting it direct and if someplace is charging 250-300 for 5 gallons on parks 50 they are really price gouging.

That’s good to know. I’ve only checked Amazon, Jantz, and USA Knifemaker for quench oil prior to finding Dubois. I’ll make sure to check out Pops next time I’m buying anything.

I bought my parks 50 straight from Maxim. It was only just a shade over $100 for 5 gallons. I’m also only an hour and a half away from them, sink was able to go pick it up on one of my trips to town and avoid shipping costs.
