Took the wife and son out for dinner and a movie, headed home before the partiers hit the road.

Stopped by a local pawn shop on the way home.

Me and the boy kick the door open to the joint like Thulsa Doom and Thorgrim, and tell the clerk "Knife case! Forthwith!"

Found these 3 little gems

1974 6254 Trapper, Delrin handles, near mint

1972 Muskrat, bone handles , near mint

Case XX era 40-64 5375 Stag Stockman
later version no long pull
Good used condition, blades aren't full, but still snap well
Stag is well worn, but crack and chip free
She's a beaut Clark!

They were marked $29 each......

Great pick ups! That little Muskrat is sweet! I need to find the right pawn shops/antique stores/flea markets around me. Finding vintage knives has proven tough so far.

Excellent.I always find the phrase "YOU THERE !" helpful in such situations and rap sharply on the counter with a stout blackwood stick sporting a silver handle in the shape of a wolfs head.
.....err thats assuming you don't actually look like the aforementioned characters.:D

a bit of metho might brighten that stag up if you are so inclined.

Hi Jon.
You are already in 2017. Is it good?

You stole 'em much like Thulsa would have . . . . you made him proud! ;)

Just don't chain the store clerk to the Wheel of Pain and ignore him for 10 years as he becomes both extremely strong and extremely resentful of your treatment of him. It's probably one of the Rules for Being an Evil Overlord, and if not, should be added.

Nice finds! The local pawn shops are usually a dead end for me, I tend to have better luck with the antique vendors. That is a nice way to start the new year!

I've done pretty well in the antique shops as well, it runs in cycles
I usually pay a little more in the antiques shops, but they get nicer stuff on average

The key to the pawn shops is stopping often, or developing a rapport with the owner or workers so they contact you when something nice goes up for sale.

Very nice. Deals are out there but seem fewer and farther in between.

Really nice score ELKabong. I love going through thrift stores, pawn shops, antique stores and such. My latest acquisition was a near mint Case Texas Jack for $15 a local pawn shop.
