Quest-R or Zipper?

I just received a "Quest-R" (the name on the box) 691BK a few days ago. It has a 1991 (+) date stamp on it, the '91 catalog shows them but says that they weren't in production yet. The '92 catalog doesn't show or mention them at all and in the '94 catalog they are shown as the "Zipper-R".

Can anyone tell me about the name change? The gut hook doesn't look as big (it's the only one I own with one) as the later models either.
 
Plumber, I thought the Zipper did come out in 1993 . ? The catalog doesn't have them in it for that year ? DM
 
I didn't write that up right. It does show up in the '93 catalog for the first time as a production knife. '91 talks about them coming out, '92 says and shows nothing but the Vanguard.

What I'm curious about is why mine has a '91 date stamp but they don't show up in the catalog as production until '93.
