I bought a Randall second hand at a gunshow several years ago and was wondering if it was a special order knife or if they made this as a regular model and if so what would it's model number be? Sorry no pic It appears to have a model 15 blade and a black linen micarta model one style handle with brass double guard, brass pommel cap and red, black and white spacers. Thanks for any info

Welcome to the RKS forum at BFC...

What you describe is commonly called a RMK Model 15 'Cut Down Tang' (CDT) 'Airman'.

Essentially what you're looking at is a model #15 blade with the narrow tang (thru the handle) and secured with epozy and a tang nut.

This model can be had with most handle options available on the RMK Model 1 'All-Purpose Fighting Knife'.

Hope that helps...

One great misconception for the #14 & #15 CDT models is that the tang is somehow of lesser substance than even that on a #1. This is incorrect. A CDT is every bit as substantial as the tang on any other ¼" stock knife with a leather handle and duralumin buttcap. A CDT tang is still ¼" thick by about a half inch wide -- plenty for most things, just slightly less than the slotted tangs, which I think are 7/8" wide.
