Question about 0560BW

Hey all. Ordered an 0560BW the other day and have a question. I have an 0561 and I love it. I prefer it over my 0300 and 0566, but they're all awesome. I'm trying to figure out if the 0560bw has the stainless steel lock bar insert, like my 0561. It has the screw in the frame lock, right next to the detent ball. I only ask because my 0561 is so smooth, and yet rock solid when open. It it the nicest and smoothest knife I have ever owned, and just want it to be the same. Looking for anyone that has one for input. Hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday weekend.

Cakes,

I ordered and received one a little over a week ago, and it does not have the stainless steel insert. The titanium scale also did not have the areas milled out for weight reduction. However, neither a big deal for me, the knife is great and looks great with the blackwash. I do think there may be some differences based on manufacture date, but not sure of that. I think you will love it anyway.

Thanks for the reply. I did a Google image search and found a few with the screw in the pic, but it's about 50-1 ratio. I'm just in love with this 0561 and that's why I grabbed the 0560BW. Just want it to be as close as possible, I feel mines perfect. Just killing time until the 0562 ships anyway. *wondering why I just bought this lol*

The current production version has a steel insert, IIRC the change was made sometime around september or october of last year, so if you order from a vendor who hasn't turned their inventory since then, you might get an 0560BW without the lock insert.

The place I ordered from said they oversold, and can't ship till Monday (paid 220, and offered 75 refunded because of that, hell of a deal for waiting 5 extra days I'd say). So i assume they have to get new ones from ZT right?

There was a change this year to add the lockbar insert to the 0560 and 0561 knives (and presumably the variations, like the 0560BW). There was a [urlhttp://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1189205-Lock-Bar-Insert-On-0561]thread about this change[/url] posted last month.

So, if you buy from a dealer that is sitting on inventory they purchased last year, it probably won't have the lockbar insert. If the dealer picked it up after the change, I'd expect it would have the insert. If you end up with one without the insert, you can just use a pencil or a sharpie to "color in" the contact area on the blade tang to help reduce lock stickiness while it wears in.

I have number 0329 and mine (obviously) doesn't have the steel insert. It does have the pocketed Titanium scale though

Well she's here, no SS lock bar insert. SN 2531. Locks up nice and tight, still breaking it in as far as smoothness with the flipping. She sure is pretty though. Anyone have an old one with no insert that's a user? How is the lockup, still tight?

OP, can you say where you ordered yours from (is it from a BF sponsored dealer?). Just curious since I just ordered the 0560 from Kershawguy. The 0561 I had did indeed have the SS insert.

Thanks for the info. Meant to say 0560 BW, but couldn't edit my post. I'm in a hotel right now with TERRIBLE wifi.
