Question about 119 Special X

Got a question about a 119 Special I got years ago when Buck Manufacturing was still in El Cajon. I purchased this Buck 119 Special(X) from the manufacturing knife store after taking the factory tour--which was very interesting around 1997 or 1998. While in knife shop I got this knife and the lady at counter said it was a 119 "Experimental" knife where the phenolic handle was shaped differently from all other 119's. What I would like to know is how many were made and what could be it's value today? It's still in original box and never used. I also have a 25th Anniversary Buck 110 Hunter in my collection and have owned Buck knives since the early 70's as they're the best. Thanks

Trimph, Welcome to the Buck forum on your first post . I do remember the 119 you mention . I however, don't know much about it other than those were made for a short time in the year you stated . As for the value you still have it in its original box and unused condition . It could sell for 20-30$ more than what you paid for it perhaps more on a good day . The 25 yr. Anniversary 110 in the gift tin is a cool beans knife . You should post pictures of your knives as the guys here will love to see them . Hang out with us and someone well answer more on this question . I just have to ask you ...
Do you own or drive the British car ? DM

Thanks DM and JB, you guys came thru on what I was looking for. After reading about the 119 X's, I also remember the handle on mine being cracked. Hope it doesn't "DEVALUE" the item, since there seems only 300 were made. Wonder if Buck can replicate a new handle if I sent it in to be repaired/replaced? I've been a lurker for a number of years now, and just decided to finally join. As to the owning/driving a British car---NO. It's a '02 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle that I ride. I need me some more knives--I think I check out Bass Pro for some exclusives.

I questioned Joe Houser on that years ago. They will warranty it, if you want a new model. There is no repair for those experimentals unfortunately.

Well, I guess there's 2 ways of looking at this. Knowing that only 300 made, the value won't fall--it'll only go up.
It's worth keeping--it's a BUCK and they only made 300 of them!!.
