Hello everyone, I'm the newbie so please be gentle. I thought I held a special place in my heart for blades but after reading some of your posts I'm feeling a bit unworthy. Okay, I was helping my neighbor clean up his yard. Organized piles of stuff one of which was a pile of metal designated for the scrap yard. I noticed my neighbor tossing a knife into this pile. Not on my watch, instinctively I reached out and caught the blade before it touched ground. Turns out to be a very cool 1967 Camillus Pilot knife, marked on the pommel not the blade.
No idea about the history of this particular blade, it has obviously been neglected because there is heavy pitting on the blade. there is also no sheath for this guy. So my questions are, and I apologize for not showing pics but this is a loaner computer while mine is in the shop, is it possible to restore a blade that has pitting? The damage on this one looks as if it was dipped in a type of acid. The pitting is obvious but not terribly deep. Next question, I would like to find a sheath, I just realized ebay might be a place to look but some of you might know others and I would appreciate any advise.
thank you for reading this and I look forward to any responses.
