Question about 40's style original sheaths

Hey guys, I made this sheath for a 1-8, trying to copy wwII style, based on a couple pics I was sent. Normally I only do fully lined sheaths, but I wanted to keep this one 'period correct' so I didn't line it. Without the lining, the belt loop stitching is exposed. My question is, did the originals back then have anything covering the stitching on the inside of the sheath to protect it?
thanks in advance!
Mark

Didn't most craftsmen of that era use a welt-style construction that provided inherent protection for the thread?

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I am referring to the belt loop stitching on the back, not the perimeter stitching. Hope that makes sense.
