Question about 806D2 washers.

Hello, I am just getting back into collecting knives after talking a LONG break. I have an 806D2 that has been my primary EDC for the better part of 20 years. It has nylon washers that are well past their prime. I reached out to Benchmade customer service, and they kinda gave me speech that if I sent it in for service, they would put new nylon washers back into it, as that is what it came with.

My question is, are there any aftermarket phosphorous bronze washers available for this knife? Is there a reason Benchmade wouldn't/shouldn't "upgrade" these for me?

I have some PB washers from a Griptilian, but the outer diameter is too large for the 806D2, and interferes with the AXIS lock, but the inner diameter of the pivot is perfect.

Should I just send it in for service with a note asking for PB washers, and hope for the best?

Thak you,

Ian

Generally, manufacturers will only restore their products to factory condition when they come in for warranty work. They'll only put the original parts that came on that product back onto the product, with no modifications. Generally, Benchmade has followed that pattern.

That being said, I would be shocked if they still have the original washers in stock, in which case, they will either send it back as is, or if you get really, really lucky, they'll put PB washers on it.
