Hello all!
Does anyone know if the 194 OT(76-04) was made at anytime with brass finished bolsters?
I was looking at a picture of one on the net, and it looks like it has brass bolsters. I was also wondering if the bolsters are brass and then nickle plated as most of the OT's are nickle plated. So maybe the nickle is just worn off of this knife?
Thanks in advance,
Darren

It could be an "end of days" knife. As Schrade's factory closing was nearing, knives were assembled from all sorts of mis-matched parts. For example, many trapper models were made with Old Timer blades and Uncle Henry handles, non-standard blade configurations, and even made with Schrade blades.

Or the brass appearance could just be an effect of the photo that you're seeing. Poor exposure, colored lighting, or something in the background reflecting.

But I don't think it could be a coating worn off.

Bolsters were either brass or nickle silver (white brass), not plated. Some cheap steel bolstered knives made way back when were nickle or brass plated. Your suspect knife could be one made as a special factory order for Skoal/Copenhagen promotions. Or with parts thereof. Or as was just said, a yellowish cast to the light during photography. Ask the seller.
