Question about a blemished GEC #21

I just received a #21 Bull Buster in orange delrin from (removed non member dealer link) and it has two blemishes. Do y'all recommend I take it up with the vendor, the manufacturer, or just accept it and move on. The blemishes are admittedly minor, and I'll still be happy with in its current condition, but I'd also like to get what I paid for.

There's a small rough spot that looks like a burn mark of some kind on one of the liners:

And there's a small chip in the delrin of one scale:

What do you think, gang?

If I bought it to be a user then I would likely just do that but if I bought it for a a gift or for collection purposes then I would definitely want to exchange it. I would bring it to the attention of the dealer regardless as they may want to check them over before sending them out if there are some QC issues in the batch. I don't expect the the Farm & Field line to have the fit & finish of a Northfield but I think you would certainly be entitled to exchange it given the 2 flaws on the knife you received.

to me it would not be an issue, after a couple of weeks of use, these would be obscured by a whole bunch of other character marks. Are you sure that burn mark on the liner won't polish off?

If it were me I'd keep it and forget about those minor blemishes. You'll forget about them in a week or two. It's a work knife.

Between the cost to send it back and than the waiting time, it's not worth sending it back. If you sand those little blemishes out, it will have some nice personal custom touches on it :D

1500 with a tiny drop of oil, it Could leave a tiny dull spot on the handle, no more.

Regards

Robin

I agree. I own 2 of the orange delrin F&F tool knives and they are both similar to this one, minus the small imperfection on the cover. In my humble opinion, I think it is more of a user knife than a collection piece. The fit and finish is not going to be the same as the Northfield series, so in essence you did get what you paid for (just my view of course). Regardless, if you are not 100% happy with the knife, then contact place where you purchased it. The same goes for any item you buy and are not pleased with. Best Regards.

That wouldn't be a problem for me on a work knife, but the premium price for these knives is only justified if they are perfect specimens. I'd send it back where I bought it.

The Farm & Field Line from GEC is designed and built as an entry level/work knife. They do not carry a Premium Price. The knife in question probably cost less than a Case Trapper.

What Bob rma100) said.

Here's what GEC says about the Farm & Field line.

For the F&F line, you have a perfect knife. Pocket it and use it.

It is a premium price if you consider the GEC is twice the price of the Case Sodbuster.

Those issues look insignificant to me. Unless you bought it as a museum piece, I'd just put it in my pocket and use it to cut things.

The "burn mark" would more than likely come off with flitz but on that particular knife it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. The chip in the scale would only slightly bother me if it was going to be a gift or something. If it was for me I wouldn't care as that knife is made to be used & will never be a collector at least not in your lifetime. :)

I would have noticed it. Maybe toss it in your toolbox and add another blemish to it. Than you'll forget you even started a thread about this. :p
