Hey there, traded at a local knife place for an old Benchmade 940, I didn't know much about it, only that the handles looked and felt like titanium, and the limited edition engraving is in the older Benchmade font, not the newer, more "flowy" script.

I can't seem to find out a year of production, exact model name, etc. on it. Yes I have googled and searched on BF and Benchmades website under the limited edition section, and still nothing. The only model matching 940Ti is the newer gold class, with the damascus blade and light blue handles. Found a few google images of it, but nothing too much on the site they came from regarding any information I'm looking for.

Ill put them in this post as well, the first is from a BF thread dated 2004, ill put a link and the pic up:

Here it is again (listed only as 940TI) - Second one down from the top

By the way, not looking for a price or to sell, just wanting to know when it was made, or anything else you guys got for me. Figured it wouldnt go into the Levine subforum, as its newer production, please correct me if im wrong on that.

haha saw that thread myself, but its not the same model -
- if you look at the second pic, steel is 154cm, this model is s30v
- pocket clip is the standard BM, this model has the arrow shape
- axis lock is silver, this model is black

very close though, thanks for helpin out :D

The 940SLV came with the standard solid Benchmade clip, but the 940Ti came with the arrow clip (black). The Ti had an S30V blade, and the SLV had 154CM.

I found some images of the 940Ti that date to November 2003. Some other webpages I found also date to 2003 (August being the earliest), so I would guess that it came out in 2003, probably mid-year.

Ok thanks for the info, any chance you can put up links for anything interesting you found? Just curious about it that's all :D
Another question, some pics of similar models came with a grey-silver box that looked to be plastic with foam, did this particular model come with the same box?

I also have the 940ti which is the one in the first photo. This came with a silver box and is gold class and was made in 2004. This model is called simply the 940ti and has not other numbers after the model number. Not sure of value, maybe $200-400 depending on condition.

How much did you get it for?

Thanks alot for the info, very much appreciated.

I got it in a trade (along with a SOG pentagon, BM 760, and an ast55 endura) at a local shop for alot of my lower end stuff, as ive been getting into higher end production much more recently. But he had it marked for $175 so probably would have let it go for $150 ish, so ill stick with that number. Don't think the guy realized what he had :D No box or papers though :( i want the box, but I doubt anyone who has it would part with just that
